The Black Freedom Struggle resource is provided complimentary by ProQuest. It features select primary source documents related to critical people and events in African American history. Secondary school students will have access to age-appropriate content from magazines, journals, newspapers, reference books, and engaging multi-media covering a wide range of subjects, from science, history, and literature to political science, sports, and environmental studies.
Historical Newspapers: Pennsylvania Collection:
ProQuest Historical Newspapers: U.S. State Collections empower researchers to digitally travel back through centuries to become eyewitnesses to local and regional history. From leading issues and events, like the U.S. Civil War, immigration, industrial developments, and race relations; to international, local and regional politics, the U.S. State Collections reveal state and local news coverage valued by researchers. Hoopla:
Hoopla is a web and mobile library media streaming platform for audiobooks, comics, ebooks, movies, music, and television to be enjoyed on a computer, tablet, phone, or TV! With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to view offline. *Please Note: Hoopla is only available to EASD residents and limited to 3 titles a month.

Click on the gear for the Settings menu.
If using a browser, select Library.
If using the app, select Library Settings.
Enter in new library card number.
hoopla allows only one card to be registered on an account at a time.

Creating Your Account
To access Hoopla, click on the "Get Started" button, and Hoopla will guide you through the steps to create a new account.
Choose Easton Area Public Library when prompted to find your library, entered your library card number, enter your email and a chosen password, and click on "Complete Registration".
You've signed up! You should receive a "Welcome to Hoopla" email.
Finding Items
There are multiple ways to find or browse for items:
Browse around the home screen to see popular and trending items.
Click on the "Browse" drop-down menu to browse specific categories (audiobooks, eBooks, movies, etc.)
Search for a specific item using the search bar. You can also narrow down your search to categories (audiobooks, eBooks, movies, etc.) using the drop-down menu next to the search bar.
Borrowing Content
When you find an item you'd like to borrow, click on the "Borrow" button underneath the item image.
You must confirm you'd like to borrow the title, and once confirmed the item will be available to read or watch.
If you are using the Hoopla app on a mobile device, the item will be available to download to your device.
You can view all of your currently borrowed items at any time by clicking on the "My Hoopla" button under "Currently Borrowed".
Items will automatically be returned at the end of their lending period.
EAPL patrons are able to borrow 3 titles per month on Hoopla.

This collection includes over 600 documents with over 75,000 pages covering key aspects of the history of slavery in America from its origins in Africa to its abolition, including materials on the slave trade, plantation life, emancipation, pro-slavery and anti-slavery arguments, the religious views on slavery, etc. Date range: 1760-1910.

Kanopy:
Kanopy is a video streaming service where patrons can watch movies, documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films and educational videos. The videos can be enjoyed on your TV, mobile phones, tablets, and online.

Creating your account:
To access Kanopy, click on "Get Started" to begin creating your Kanopy account.
Find and select Easton Area Public Library as your library, then enter your EAPL library card number.
Create a Kanopy account with your name, email, and a password then click “sign up”.
Using the app on your mobile or TV device:
Search for "Kanopy" in your app store and install the app on your device.
Once the app is installed, log in with the account you just created.
Browsing and Searching for Films:
To browse categories of films, hover over Browse at the top of the page on the website, or tap Browse in the bottom navigation bar of the mobile app. Then, select a category to browse shelves with that theme.
To search for a specific film, or specific film topic, select Search at the top of the Kanopy homepage (on the Kanopy website) or in the bottom navigation bar (on the Kanopy mobile app) and search by title or keyword. Select a suggested search at the top of the results to see related titles.
Watching Films:
On the film title's details page, it will show you information about the film including how many tickets the film uses, and how long you will have access to the film.
Each month, you will have 20 tickets as an EAPL patron to use on films. The tickets do not carry over into a new month.
When you find a title that you'd like to watch, click Play or Watch Now on the title's details page to open the video player. Or click the + button to "Add to Watchlist" to watch later.

If using the app, at the bottom of the screen, click on the center account icon (looks like the top of a person's head behind a book).
Select Manage Cards.
Delete the old account.
Select Add a Library with your new library card number.

Creating your account:
If it's the first time you're accessing the Libby webpage, click the "Already have a library card? Sign in here" button in the pop-up window. If you do not see a pop-up window, click the "Sign in" button in the upper right-hand corner.
Follow the prompts to find and selection "Easton Area Public Library", and then sign in with your EAPL library card number.
You've signed up! You should be redirected to the Libby homepage, where you can browse our EAPL catalog.
Using the app on your mobile device:
Search for "libby" in your app store (it will be called “Libby, by OverDrive”), and install the app on your device.
Once the app is installed, log in by searching for and selecting Easton Area Library, and entering your library card number number.
Finding Items:
There are multiple ways to find or browse for items in Libby:
Browse around the home screen to see popular and trending items.
Use the filters at the top of the page to sort items in order of newest, most popular, or filter by items only available to be borrowed immediately. Clicking on the three lines in the left hand corner will also provide filters such as subject, format, audience, language, etc.
Search for a specific item using the magnifying glass in the lower menu, on the bottom left hand of the screen.
Borrowing Content:
When you find an item you'd like to borrow, you will either have the option to borrow/read the item immediately or put the item on hold, if it's currently unavailable
To see the items you have on loan, and the items you have on hold, navigate to your "shelf" by clicking the stack of books icon in the bottom menu.
Tap Read With... to choose where you'd like to read a book (Kindle or Libby), then finish sending to Kindle (U.S. libraries only) or start reading in Libby.
Tap Open In Libby or Open Audiobook to start reading or listening in the app.
Tap Manage Loan to see options like Renew Loan and Return Early.

To access ParentTV, you will be prompted log-in with your EAPL library card number. Enter your library card number, click to box to accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy policies, then click the “Login” button
Navigating ParentTV:
There are several ways to explore, search, and filter video topics in ParentTV:
In the upper right-hand corner of the homepage, patrons can click on “Videos” to filter by children's ages and language options, “Series” to watch curated playlists, and "Experts to filter videos by their creators.
Patrons can also explore parenting topics from the categories listed in the left-hand column of the screen, or by using the search bar.
