resources include computers for word processing,
PAC (Public Access Catalog) and
Internet access.
Acceptable use
of the computer resources at the Easton Area Public Library will be in
accordance with:
Access to different types
of information for the primary purposes of education,
research and lifelong
learning.
Resources made available
to all citizens within the library’s service area
and secondarily to those outside the library’s service area.
Requirement of current (Fine Free)
library card if residing within library’s service area. Those outside the
library’s service area must have valid Driver’s license
or other form of a Photo ID.
In compliance with the
CIPA Act Internet stations are filtered as per 47 U.S.C. 254(h) and (l). If you need unfiltered
access for research purposes, please see a librarian.
Members of the library
community who use networks or facilities not owned by the library will adhere to
the policies and procedures established by the administrators of these networks
and facilities. Use of library computer resources must follow the guidelines of
all the networks traversed.
Computer resources
may not be used to access explicit sexual
content, as defined in 19 Pa. C.S. 5903. Illegal activities will be subject to
prosecution by local, state and federal authorities.
Sanctions
Violators of this policy
will lose library privileges for two weeks
on the first violation, one month on the
second, and three months on the third.
Usage

Web-based Email
is available.

Office applications,
research applications, educational software and tutorials are available.

Interactive Chat
and instant messaging are not permitted.
This includes chat in game sites.

Patrons
may not download or run software not
installed by the library.

Computers
may Not be turned off at the end of a
session.

resources may contain material which is controversial, incomplete, or
inaccurate. The Easton Area Public Library cannot censor access to nor
protect patrons from offensive content. Parents of minors must assume
responsibility for their children’s use of the Internet through the
Easton
Area Public Library’s connection.

Operation:
Computers in the Easton Area Public Library are maintained daily to insure
reliable operation. However, connections may fail or computers may
"freeze." Such occurrences are unfortunate, but the library is not
responsible for any losses due to computer operation, viruses or other
equipment failure. Also note that Internet sites may be unavailable at
times due to technical difficulties.

Privacy: While
every attempt is made to keep all information passing to and from our
systems private, you must assume that any information that you transmit or
receive may not be private. The Easton Area Public Library does not
monitor normal usage of our systems. However, the Easton Area Public
Library will fully cooperate with any authority in investigation of
illegal activity and may turn over logs and records upon receipt of proper
orders or subpoenas. The Electronic Communications Act of 1986, the
Telecommunications Act of 1998 and the U.S.A. Patriot Act (PL 107-56)
contains important privacy and confidentiality information.

Please
Sign-UP at
the Reservation Station. Patrons must use their own valid, fine free Easton
Area Public Library card.

A maximum time of two
hours per day is enforced depending on computer availability.

The Computer Lab will be
unavailable when needed for training or workshops.

The library reserves the
right to ask patrons to change to another Web site or to terminate their
session as per this Policy of Acceptable Use.

Please do not abuse
library equipment.
Printing & Saving

Network printing is
available by using a cash card. (10˘ per page)

Saving and
downloading files is permitted on selected computers using a Flash Drive, A
Flash Drive may be purchased at the Circulation desk.Please save
your work often!

The library assumes no
responsibility for loss due to computer viruses. Please protect your home
computer from viruses and other threats.

Training

Training is not offered
by the Reference staff; however, the library does offer a variety of workshops
to improve basic skills. Please ask a librarian about scheduled workshops.
