BOOK LOSS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS

  • It costs library patrons a great deal of money and inconvenience.

  • The Easton Area Public Library in an effort to save taxpayers’ money has undertaken a program to recover books and fines that are seriously overdue.  We have hired Unique Management Services, a collection agency that works with libraries throughout the United States.

The Easton Area Public Library has contracted with a collection agency to assist in recovering non-returned library materials and unpaid fines.

All unresolved accounts over  $25.00 will be turned over to Unique Management Services, Inc. and an additional charge of $10.00 will be added to the balance.

 Why is this policy necessary?

  • The library is committed to provide service and materials that meet patrons’ needs.

  • Materials not returned become unavailable for other patrons to borrow.

  • If materials are not returned, money from the library budget is used to replace them, rather than purchasing new items.

  • Patrons who fail to return library materials after repeated reminders are guilty of stealing from the library.

  • Fortunately, only a very small percentage of library users do not return materials as agreed.

  • This policy will not affect patrons who return materials on time.

DON’T BE A PART OF THE PROBLEM!

  • Return books and materials promptly so others may use them.

  • Renew items via phone, over the Internet, or in person to the main library, the Palmer Branch or the South Side Branch.

  • Pay fines when due.

  • Your efforts will help library money go further for the entire community.
