Good news: Messages from Library supporters to state legislators and Governor Wolf have been heard. The budget passed by the State House  and expected to be approved by the State Senate includes the same percentage increase for the the Public Library Subsidy as for the Basic Education Subsidy - just as we had asked.
Bad News: There probably won't be a budget in the near future as Governor Wolf has said he will veto it in part or full. But there's even good news here as the proposed increase is the one that will probably serve as the benchmark for the final budget. (This increase is not the reason for the veto.)
We need to keep the pressure on as negotiations on the final budget proceed. Here's the link for an editable letter and links to your legislator: http://www.capwiz.com/ala/pa/home. There's also a more complete explanation as to what's happening with the budget.
It's so easy to send a message through the site and it'll only take a few minutes. We know library supporters are being heard. Would you include your voice at this crucial point in negotiations?
Thank you.
